Santiago, Chile, is where I was born ninety-one years ago. My entire life has been spent traveling all over the world. People often ask my nationality and I just tell them, “International.”
It seems to me that many people are not interested in life – they are too busy “performing.” Be quiet. Listen more. If you don’t listen, you don’t learn.
I am grateful to my father, who let me live and experience life for myself. I came from an affluent family, but he made me learn to survive on my own. And he had such a wonderful sense of humor! My mother died when I was twelve, so I understand how essential humor is when life turns tragic.
Fun Fact: For thirty years, I owned an atelier in San Francisco, California. Many people told me I was “ahead of my time”! Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross and Wayne Newton were some of the clients who wore my handmade, one-of-a-kind silk crochet and knit designs.
