Susanne Nason, Contributing Artist Chapter Nineteen ~ S.H.E. Book

From the very beginning, Shannon felt like someone I had known for years. Every time we spoke, I went away from our conversations with a warm, comforting fuzzy feeling. It was clear that Shannon lived a life of compassion and caring, carrying the gift of gladness to all that she does and everyone she meets. It has been a great blessing to work with her on this book project.

I illustrated Jessie’s story and that process has taken me on an incredible journey of new relationships, while also cementing “tried and true” friendships. Reading Jessie’s story for the first time, I was immediately able to share her joys, feel her anguish, experience her faith, and how it carried her with grace. I am in awe of her strength and resilience as Jessie made difficult sacrifices.

Little seeds of friendship in my life sprung up illustrating one of the S.H.E. heroes. Sharon Belknap, Erica Russell and I all met in an online class at Sketchbook Skool (yes that is how it is spelled). Sharon and I keep coming together at all sorts of artistic crossroads, feeding off of each other’s contagious happiness, pushing each other’s imaginations to new and creative places, encouraging and supporting one another. I am so grateful to have had this experience.
